The last month has been a l-o-n-g stretch. Not a day went by when I wasn't in the office or at least perched in front of my laptop, pounding away at work's big project. I was stuck in my own little world of work/twitter/eat/sleep for the last month...totally detached from just about everything non-work related (I did manage to catch a sneak preview of Ratatouille last weekend - cute, cute, CUTE!) We finally hit our beta milestone last week, so I got to enjoy a free weekend hanging out at the family farm, playing Wii with my youngest niece most of the time.
Tucked into the crazy month, a promotion and salary bump came my way - Associate Creative Director, Web & Media. Wooohooo! To celebrate, I'm planning to make my way out to San Francisco for the iPhoneDevCamp event. Any other LJ geeks attending?
Also, I currently use a pair of Sony MDR-EX51 headphones. They're great for complete isolation, but it's too easy for people to sneak up on me (a fav. pastime of cow-orkers.) I'm looking for a good monitor-style set. Recommendations?

Oooo w00t! I've been invited to take the Joost Beta for a spin! So far, the wow factor is fairly high. Interactive factor is a bit of "WTF were they thinking." Video quality depends on the channel being watched in my random samplings, it's gone from "OK on a regular TV" to "looks better on my iPod." They're gonna have to improve the quality if its ever going to go head-to-head with broadcast TV.
What's Joost? (Is that Mr. Wizard in the video, or am I imagining things?)

In other news, Erasure's new single I Could Fall in Love With You is finally out. HOORAY!
Well hell. Turns out I didn't need to dig into the code to unlock that secret page after all. My coworker Steph and I just called the number. Choosing the personnel dept. takes you to a message that gives you the invitation code "MT36".
Guess I should've taken the obvious route and called the number first. Ah well...it was still fun digging into the code like I did.
Hmmm. I wonder if "MT36" has any meaning besides just unlocking the secret area.
In Chapter 12 of Heroes, "Godsend," we learn that Claire's dad supposedly runs a paper company. We get to see the business card with www.primatechpaper.com on it.
Sure enough, the site exists. On the surface, it seems like a fairly amateur job...simple graphics, uninspired layout, etc. There's the blatant bit in the logo about the company being around since 1962. That might be significant, but maybe not. There's also a phone number. Has anyone called it?
So what else is there? I dove under the hood and looked at the site's code. Here are the interesting bits I found in the first few minutes, including how to unlock the secret area!
( Thar be code beyond this cut...and possibly spoilers, too. You've been warned. )Guilty as charged...I'm an Apple fanboy. There's an Apple logo sticker on the back of my Jeep. I've owned AAPL stock for a long, long time. I joined a throng of folks camping out overnight when the local Apple Store opened. You get the picture.
And today's an exciting day...It's Macworld San Francisco Keynote day! At noon Eastern, Mr. Jobs will be taking the stage at MWSF to, hopefully, announce some fabulous new things. I've blocked the time out on my work calendar, so I can spend my lunch keeping track of the announcements. I'll be watching the liveblogging at LoopRumors.com and MacRumors.com, as well as playing Keynote Bingo (I'm really hoping that at some point there's a 5-in-a-row winner and an entire mass of folks shout "Bingo!" in the middle of the event.)
Tons of folks have speculated on what will be announced, and I've probably read all of them. I have some hopes on what I'd like to see announced, but regardless of that, the energy surrounding the event is the most exciting part. I love surprises!
Gosh...It feels like Christmas morning!
